Have
you ever been in a crowded shopping mall, turned to take
your child's hand, and he or she was no longer in sight?
And then, a minute or two later, you spot your child. You
put your arms out as your child comes running back. Now,
everything is just fine.
For
some parents, remembering that terrible moment lasts a few
days. For some, it lasts forever because the child is still
missing. Each day 2,300 missing children are reported to
local police and entered into the Federal Bureau of Investigation's
National Crime Information Center computer system.
The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC)
is dedicated to help recover these missing children and
prevent other children from becoming victims of abduction
and sexual exploitation. You can be assured that 90 percent
of every dollar goes directly to help find as many of these
missing children as possible, as well as support our education
and prevention programs. "But how can I help?"
you may ask. Well, check out the active banner at the top
of this page for ways you can help.
